The OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 20mm f/1.4 Pro is an interchangeable lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras, suited to photographers who want one fixed perspective for landscapes, architecture and astro photography. Its 57° angle of view offers a composed, moderate-wide view: broad enough for many outdoor scenes, without making every subject feel distant. It also works well for architectural exteriors and details where you want to place a building carefully within the frame. For night skies, its bright maximum aperture is a particular draw. Autofocus helps when you’re moving between subjects, while the fixed 20mm perspective rewards a little thought about where you stand and what you include.

Specialist Note

The M.Zuiko 20mm f/1.4 makes photographing stars easier than starting with a slower aperture and needing longer exposures. At f/1.4, you can gather more light and keep shutter times shorter, which helps keep star points defined. On a Micro Four Thirds body, its 20mm framing is equivalent to 40mm on full frame; that gives you a more contained view of the sky rather than an ultra-wide sweep. I’d use autofocus to set a clear architectural detail, then compose around it. It suits photographers who like deliberate landscapes and night-sky scenes, but it isn’t the lens for fitting the widest possible vista into one frame.
