Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Sprite 280gsm A3+ 329x483mm

Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Sprite 280gsm A3+ 329x483mm | A smooth, substantial sheet for printmaking

The defining choice here is a smooth cotton paper in a generous A3+ sheet: a format for photographers and printmakers who want room to make a finished print without moving up to a much larger sheet. Ilford names this Galerie Smooth Cotton Sprite and gives it a weight of 280gsm, so it’s a substantial option for print work where the sheet itself matters as part of the presentation. Its stated size is 329 × 483mm. That makes it suited to prints planned around A3+ dimensions, or to work where you’d like some space around the image when laying it out. The name is specific, which is useful when you’re matching paper to a project. One honest point: the title tells you the surface and format, but not how a particular image will look on it. For that, your own image and print setup are part of the decision.

Choosing this format

This paper makes most sense when you already have a print size in mind and want a sheet that measures 329 × 483mm. It gives you a clear starting point for planning the image area, margins and final trim; the right balance depends on the layout you’re making. If you’re comparing papers for a specific project, the words “Smooth Cotton Sprite” and the 280gsm weight are the useful identifiers to keep together. That way, you can distinguish this Galerie paper from other formats or weights in your materials list without relying on a broad description like “fine art paper.”

The A3+ format is the practical centre of this product’s identity: larger than a standard A3 sheet, while still giving you a defined, manageable size to plan around. It’s a considered pick for printmakers who want that exact format and a smooth cotton paper, rather than a roll or a smaller sheet. The measurements are worth using when you’re preparing a layout, since the sheet is 329mm wide and 483mm long. No guesswork about a vague size label is needed.
