Fujifilm XF90mm f/2.0 R LM WR is a 90mm f/2 short telephoto prime for Fujifilm X cameras, built for photographers who want close, composed portraits and candid event coverage. On an APS-C camera, its tighter view works well for head-and-shoulders portraits and moments when you want a little distance from your subject. Autofocus helps you keep up as expressions change, while the wide maximum aperture gives you more flexibility in available light and helps draw attention to a face against a busy background. You can also use the longer reach to pick out details without moving into the scene. This is a specialist focal length, rather than an all-purpose everyday lens: in a small room or with a large group, you may not have enough space to frame everyone. For portraits and events where you want to focus attention on people, it has a clear purpose.

Specialist Note

At 90mm, you can frame a close portrait from farther back, which can make directing someone feel less intrusive. The f/2 maximum aperture is helpful when event light drops; for people in motion, try around 1/250 sec and raise ISO if the room calls for it. On a Fujifilm X APS-C body, the view is equivalent to 135mm on full frame, so I’d save it for portraits, candid moments or details rather than cramped indoor groups. You do need room to step back, and that narrow view is less forgiving when you can’t. For customers whose main subjects are people, that focused role is the appeal.
