7Artisans 75mm T1.5 Dream Series - Canon RF-Mount | A portrait perspective for controlled filmmaking

For composed video portraits and dialogue, a short-telephoto view keeps your subject prominent and gives the frame a more selective feel. The 7Artisans 75mm T1.5 Dream Series - Canon RF-Mount is an interchangeable prime lens for Canon RF cameras, suited to filmmakers who want a tighter perspective for planned shots. Its 75mm focal length works well for individual subjects, interview setups and carefully framed details. It needs more room than a wider lens, so it’s most at home when you can place the camera deliberately rather than move around a cramped space. The bright maximum aperture can help in dimmer scenes and soften the background when you focus on your subject. This is a lens for considered video and filmmaking, where you can shape the shot; its narrower view isn’t the most flexible option for a fast-changing scene.

Specialist Note

The T1.5 maximum aperture is a useful physical feature here: opening it up can help hold exposure in a dim interview space, though the shallow depth of field calls for care. With manual focus, I’d plan a deliberate pull—perhaps shifting attention from a foreground object to a speaker—and rehearse it before the take. That makes this a good fit for filmmakers building controlled portrait scenes or composed dialogue coverage. One honest limitation: fast, unscripted movement takes more attention to keep in focus, so it pairs best with a measured setup and a clear focus plan.
