The Meike MK 8mm f/3.5 is an interchangeable ultra-wide prime lens for photographers who want an expansive viewpoint with the distinctive perspective of a fisheye. It’s particularly well suited to landscapes and architecture, where a dramatic view can become part of the composition rather than something to correct away. On buildings, the curved rendering can add energy to a façade; outdoors, it can make foreground details feel prominent against a broad setting. This lens uses a Canon EF mount, so it’s aimed at photographers working with that camera system. It’s a specialised way to frame a scene, rather than a neutral wide-angle view, and suits people who want that character to show in the finished image.

Specialist Note

For a sweeping landscape with a deliberately curved, expansive viewpoint in one frame, this Meike gives you that look directly instead of stitching separate views together. Its 8mm focal length gives a Canon APS-C (EF-S) body a full-frame equivalent view of 12.8mm, which is helpful when you want foreground detail and a lot of sky in the same composition. The maximum f/3.5 aperture gives you some room to work as the light fades, though a tripod is still a sensible partner for a carefully composed landscape in low light. For architecture, keep important straight edges nearer the centre if you want to limit the fisheye curve; put them toward the edges when you want that bend to be part of the image.

Technical Specifications

Product type: Interchangeable lens

Focal length: 8mm

Maximum aperture: f/3.5

Lens type: Ultra Wide Prime

Mount: Canon EF

Suited for: Landscape, Architecture
