It’ll suit sound recordists and video crews who need to keep working outdoors when the weather turns wet, particularly for location interviews or recording the sound of a place. Rather than being a general camera accessory, this is a microphone-focused piece of kit. That makes it relevant when protecting the audio setup is part of preparing for a shoot. A raincover can help keep rain off the microphone, but it isn’t a reason to ignore changing conditions or leave other equipment exposed. If your work takes you outside, this is the kind of accessory to consider as part of your wet-weather audio setup. The product name identifies the model as “7”; it doesn’t, by itself, tell you which microphone shapes it suits, so choose it for the stated raincover purpose rather than assuming a particular fit.

Specialist Note

The Rycote Duck Raincover 7 is made for the straightforward job of covering a microphone from rain. Since it’s listed as a microphone accessory, I’d consider it for outdoor interviews or gathering ambient sound when a shower could interrupt recording. The “Raincover” part of the name is the useful clue: this is for the audio side of a setup, not for covering a camera. I’d plan where the microphone needs to sit before fitting any cover, so the recording position still makes sense. One practical limit: it addresses rain around the microphone, not the rest of your equipment, so keep the wider kit protected too.

Technical Specifications

Product name: Rycote Duck Raincover 7

Product type: Microphone raincover

Category: Accessories > microphone
