The Sigma Lens Hood LH878-08 is for photographers using the Sigma 85mm f/1.2 DG(A), especially portrait makers working near windows, outdoors in changeable light, or around strong lamps. It gives you a straightforward way to manage unwanted light without changing your framing. Use it when light is coming from just outside the picture, then check your composition for flare as you shoot. A hood can’t solve every bright-light problem, but for a specific 85mm portrait setup, this is a focused accessory rather than a general-purpose extra.

Specialist Note

85mm often lets you frame a head-and-shoulders portrait from a little farther back, so you can give your subject room to settle into the pose. The f/1.2 marking belongs to the lens this hood is named for; wide open, it gives you very shallow depth of field, so focus carefully on the nearer eye and keep an eye on the background. I’d use the LH878-08 when a window or low sun sits just outside the frame: compose to keep that light off the front of the lens and let the hood shade it. It suits portrait photographers using this exact lens. One limit: it won’t prevent flare from a light source inside the frame.

Technical Specifications

Product: Sigma Lens Hood

Model: LH878-08

Lens designation: 85mm f/1.2 DG(A)
