It’s a specialist component for building or maintaining a rig around that system, rather than a general-purpose tripod accessory. The product name is deliberately specific: it identifies the lower dovetail only, so it’s relevant when that is the part your setup calls for. Use it when assembling a 15mm DSLR baseplate arrangement or replacing its lower dovetail component. Its value is in being the defined lower part of that setup; it isn’t presented as a complete baseplate on its own. If you’re planning a rig, think of this as one component in the build, not a finished support solution. That distinction helps you choose the right part for the job without expecting pieces that aren’t included in its name.

Specialist Note

“Can this serve as a complete baseplate?” No, it’s the lower dovetail only. I’d point you to this when you’re putting together a Unified DSLR setup and specifically need that lower component, rather than a whole baseplate. The 15mm designation is useful when you’re planning around a 15mm DSLR rig: it tells you the setup this part is intended for, so you can keep your build focused. The DSLR wording matters too; this isn’t described as a universal camera plate. For assembling a rig or replacing the lower dovetail piece, it’s a straightforward part to consider. Just plan for the rest of the baseplate arrangement separately, since this item alone isn’t the complete assembly.

Technical Specifications

Product kind: Tripod accessory

Product type: Lower dovetail

Named setup: Unified DSLR 15mm baseplate

Scope: Lower dovetail only

https://www.htf-store.com/ar/products/wooden-camera-900128-unified-dslr-15mm-baseplate-lower-dovetail-only
