The Wooden Camera UMB-1 is a clamp-on ring for that 143-to-114mm step. It’s a specialist tripod accessory for camera operators and crew building a rig around a mattebox, rather than a general-purpose tripod part. Its value is practical: it gives a defined size transition between the mattebox side and the lens side, so you can bring those two stated diameters together in one setup. That makes it relevant when assembling a rig for controlled framing with a mattebox in place. The sizing is the key detail here; this ring is for a particular diameter pairing, not a universal adapter. If those dimensions match the parts in your rig, it provides a straightforward way to join them.

Specialist Note

The awkward gap between a 143mm mattebox opening and a 114mm lens front is exactly the problem this ring addresses. I’d look at it when you want to build a clamp-on mattebox setup around those specific diameters, for example on a rig prepared for a controlled interview frame or a carefully composed studio shot. The ring’s 143-114mm sizing gives you a clear pairing to work from; match the 143mm side to the mattebox and the 114mm side to the lens front. It’s a purpose-specific part, so it won’t solve a different diameter mismatch. For the stated sizes, though, it keeps the connection simple and direct.

Technical Specifications

Product: Wooden Camera UMB-1 Mattebox Clamp On Ring

Size: 143-114mm

Product kind: Tripod accessory
