Laowa Proteus Flex 2X Anamorphic 3 Lens Bundle Set A (28mm 45mm 85mm) (Meters)
Laowa Proteus Flex 2X Anamorphic 3 Lens Bundle Set A (28mm 45mm 85mm) (Meters) | Three focal lengths for anamorphic cinema
The defining choice here is 2X anamorphic optics: they record a horizontally compressed image that’s intended to be de-squeezed in post-production. This Laowa set brings three separate focal lengths together for filmmakers who want to shape a scene with anamorphic framing, from broader views to tighter compositions. It suits cinematographers working with a considered, manual approach to focus, as well as productions that want several focal-length options within one lens kit. The set is especially useful when a film needs different kinds of framing while keeping an anamorphic approach throughout. Rather than treating the lenses as a zoom range, think of them as three distinct tools; changing perspective means changing lenses. The focal lengths are 28mm, 45mm and 85mm, giving you clear options for establishing views, mid-distance framing and closer subjects.
Specialist Note
Filmmakers who build a scene around deliberate framing will get the most from this set. I’d use the 28mm for a broad establishing view, then move to the 85mm when a portrait or detail needs to feel more tightly framed; the 45mm gives you a middle option. Manual focus asks you to guide focus yourself, which suits planned shots and measured focus pulls rather than run-and-gun work. The meter markings make distance-based focus decisions easier to communicate on set. One practical trade-off: these are three separate lenses, so changing the framing means swapping lenses, not turning a zoom ring.
