Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DC (C) F/X-Mount | Bright, expansive views for Fujifilm X

Broad landscapes, striking architecture and open night skies are the pictures this lens is made to frame. The Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DC (C) F/X-Mount is an ultra-wide prime for Fujifilm X cameras with APS-C sensors. Its 87° angle of view takes in a generous sweep of a scene, making it easier to include the shape of a building or the sweep of a coastline without stepping far back. It’s a fixed-focal-length lens with a 15mm focal length, so you compose by moving yourself rather than zooming. Autofocus helps keep the process straightforward when subjects or your position change. For landscape, architecture and astrophotography, it offers a wide perspective in a lens designed for the Fujifilm X system.

Specialist Note

The 15mm focal length gives this lens its expansive framing; on a Fujifilm X camera, that’s roughly a 22.5mm full-frame equivalent. I’d consider it for interiors and architecture when you want more of a building in the frame, or for night-sky scenes where a wide view helps include more sky. Its f/1.4 maximum aperture lets in plenty of light, which is useful for astrophotography: you can work at that aperture to keep exposure times down. Autofocus is handy for everyday scenes, though for stars you’ll want to take care over focus rather than rely on it to find a point in the dark. The wide view is a strength, but it won’t give you a tight framing from a distance.
