LaCie D2 10TB USB-C 8.9cm 3.5inch Desktop Drive

LaCie D2 10TB USB-C 8.9cm 3.5inch Desktop Drive | A desktop home for a large archive

When your photo folders, video projects or other files have outgrown the space you want to keep on your computer, a desktop hard drive can give that material a separate place. The LaCie D2 offers 10TB of storage in an external HDD, with USB-C named in its product title. It’s suited to someone building a sizeable collection or keeping a substantial set of files together, rather than looking for a small-capacity drive for occasional odds and ends. Its 3.5-inch format and desktop designation make its role clear: this is a drive to include in a desk-based storage setup. The appeal is straightforward capacity. For large libraries and working files, 10TB gives you room to organise a considerable amount of material on one drive. There’s no need to dress that up as anything more complicated.

The practical question is what you want this drive to do in your own workflow. It can serve as a destination for an archive, a place to gather project folders, or a separate location for copies of files you want to keep. Those are uses for a storage drive, not a claim about included software or automatic backup features. USB-C is the connection detail provided here; no transfer-speed figure is available to compare. If you’re choosing between storage sizes, think about the amount you need to keep together and the room you’ll want for future files. At 10TB, the D2 is aimed at a collection that has grown beyond a modest working folder. One honest point: its desktop format makes it a less natural fit for someone whose main priority is a drive to carry around every day.
