The Sony SEL 21mm f/2.8 Ultra Wide Converter E-Mount is an autofocus wide-angle prime for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras, with a 21mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/2.8. On an APS-C body, that focal length gives a view similar to 31.5mm on full frame: wide enough to take in more surroundings, while keeping a natural sense of scale. It suits photographers who work with architecture and landscapes and want a fixed focal length for composing deliberately. The 68° angle of view gives you room to include context without turning every scene into an exaggerated ultra-wide view. For buildings, take a moment to keep the camera level as you frame; for landscapes, use the extra width to make foreground and surroundings part of the composition.

Specialist Note

A narrow street or a close viewpoint can leave you struggling to fit a building into the frame; this 21mm gives you more room without going to an extreme perspective. Its APS-C format means the view is equivalent to about 31.5mm on full frame, so it’s a moderately wide framing rather than a sweeping ultra-wide look.
