The 35mm focal length is popularly favored for its natural perspective, making it ideal for dialogue scenes, medium shots, and dynamic camera movements. Combined with a consistent T1.9 aperture, this lens offers ample creative freedoms, even in low-light environments.

This lens features a thoroughly redesigned optical structure, comprised of 13 elements arranged in 9 groups, incorporating aspherical elements and premium coatings. This advanced construction ensures exceptional sharpness across the frame, minimized chromatic aberration, and consistent contrast levels. The color rendering is finely tuned, allowing for seamless integration with other lenses in the series without noticeable differences in hue or character.

A standout feature of the Vespid Prime 2 series is its minimal focus breathing. During focus adjustments, the angle of view remains stable, providing a significant advantage in narrative scenes and controlled camera movements. The lens design includes floating elements that maintain image quality at close focus distances. With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.5 meters and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.5, it excels in capturing intricate details without the need to switch to a macro lens.

Engineered for professional cinematography, this lens is equipped with a PL mount that supports Cooke i metadata, enabling real-time tracking of focus distance, aperture, and focal length with compatible cameras and post-production software. The manual focus mechanism features a generous 300-degree rotation for precise and predictable focus control. Additionally, the iris control is fully manual and linear, ensuring consistent exposure during operation.

The compact and uniform design of the Vespid Prime 2 series is another highlight. With an 80mm front diameter, an 80mm length, and a filter thread of M77, this lens integrates seamlessly into existing rigs, matte boxes, and follow focus systems. This allows for quick transitions between different focal lengths without the need for extensive setup adjustments, making it suitable not only for traditional film sets but also for gimbal applications and compact rigs.

Key Features of the DZOFilm Vespid Prime 2 35mm T1.9 PL

35mm focal length for a natural perspective

Consistent T1.9 to T22 aperture

Full-frame and Vista Vision image circle of 46.5mm

Optical construction consisting of 13 elements in 9 groups

Maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.5

Close focus capability from 0.5 meters measured from the sensor

PL mount with Cooke i metadata support

Manual focus with 300-degree rotation

80mm front diameter and M77 filter thread

Weight of approximately 800 grams

Package Contents

DZOFilm Vespid Prime 2 35mm T1.9 PL lens

Front lens cap

Rear lens cap

Shim set
