Ilford MGW.1K photo paper gives you a sheet measuring 40.6 x 50.8 cm, in a pack of 50, for photographers who want to make prints at this larger size. It’s a practical format to consider when you’re selecting images for a substantial print, rather than trying to make every photograph fit a smaller sheet. The useful part is having the finished dimensions clear from the start: you can plan the crop and composition around the print you intend to make. This is a straightforward option for someone preparing a batch of prints in one consistent size. One honest point: a larger sheet won’t rescue an image that doesn’t work at that scale, so choose photographs whose composition still feels balanced when given more room.

Plan around the finished print

Before you start a print run, think about how each image will sit within a 40.6 x 50.8 cm rectangle. A photograph composed close to the edges may need a different crop from one with open space around the subject. Looking at the image in the intended shape first can help you make that decision before committing to a print. It’s also worth deciding which photographs belong together as a set; using the same sheet dimensions gives you a consistent starting point when you’re planning a group for display or keeping a series together. With 50 sheets to work through, you can organize the job by image or by project, rather than making size decisions one print at a time. The paper is listed as black in the supplier’s colour information, which is reflected below.

Technical Specifications

Product: Ilford MGW.1K

Sheet size: 40.6 x 50.8 cm

Quantity: 50 sheets

Colour: Black
