The Ilford Universal Enlarger +75mm Lens EU is for film photographers who want to print in the darkroom and need an enlarger as the starting point. Its appeal is the clear pairing in the name: an Ilford enlarger with a specified lens focal length, rather than a listing for an enlarger alone. You can use it as the centre of a printing workflow, arranging the projected image on your paper to suit the print you want to make. It’s a considered option for someone setting up or changing a darkroom, and for a printer replacing an enlarger with a named lens combination. The product name doesn’t identify a particular negative format or other setup details, so I’d choose it by the enlarger and lens pairing that suits your printing plans, rather than assume a particular configuration.

Specialist Note

75mm is the lens’s stated focal length, giving you a specific optical starting point for your enlarger setup. The word “Universal” is part of the enlarger’s name, so this is presented as a general-purpose darkroom enlarger rather than a model named for one particular task. I’d look at this for making prints from negatives when you want the enlarger and lens together as a defined pairing: set the projected image to the print size you’re working toward, then focus and make your exposure. It suits a home darkroom printer who values a clear starting point. The honest consideration is that a fixed focal length won’t be the right answer for every negative and print arrangement.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Ilford

Product type: Universal enlarger

Lens: 75mm

Category: Accessories > Darkroom

Designation: EU
