jjc-f-bd62-2-62mm-black-diffusion-filter
JJC F-BD62-2 62mm Black Diffusion Filter

JJC F-BD62-2 62mm Black Diffusion Filter | A softer look for portraits and video

The defining choice here is black diffusion: this filter is intended to soften the way a scene is rendered, rather than simply reduce the amount of light reaching the camera. That makes the JJC F-BD62-2 worth considering for portrait work and video when you want a gentler-looking image, especially around bright highlights. Its 62mm size gives you a clear starting point for lens compatibility: the lens needs a matching 62mm filter fitting. The effect is the reason to reach for it, not a change to your camera’s settings or a substitute for controlling exposure. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want to shape the image at capture, rather than rely entirely on editing afterwards. There’s no strength or grade included in the product name, so think of this as a black diffusion filter, not a promise of a particular degree of softening. If that look is what you’re after, this is a straightforward option to explore.

Specialist Note

In use, black diffusion is about changing the image’s feel as you shoot; you can leave your camera controls alone and decide whether the softer rendering suits the scene. The 62mm size is practical when your lens has a matching filter fitting, so you can identify the intended fit without guessing from the camera body. I’d consider it for portraits where you want a gentler finish, or for video with bright lights in frame, then judge the effect in your own framing before committing to a whole sequence. It’s for image character, not exposure control, so don’t choose it to create motion blur or lengthen shutter speeds. A focused, specific tool—and best when you actually want diffusion in the picture.

Technical Specifications

Brand: JJC

Model: F-BD62-2

Filter size: 62mm

Filter type: Black diffusion
