The Laowa 15mm F/5 Cookie FF Silver Sony FE (Auto Aperture) is a full-frame ultra-wide prime lens for Sony FE cameras, with a 111° angle of view. Its 15mm focal length takes in a broad sweep of a scene, making it well suited to landscapes and architecture where stepping farther back isn’t always possible. Focus is manual, so you set focus yourself rather than relying on autofocus; that suits a deliberate approach to framing and composition. The maximum aperture is f/5, a sensible match for well-lit scenes, though it gives you less room for dim conditions than a brighter lens would. Its silver finish gives the lens a distinctive look, while the compact “Cookie” name points to a design made to keep things simple and unobtrusive.

Specialist Note

Fitting a whole building or a sweeping foreground into one frame can be tricky when there’s nowhere to step back; this 15mm view gives you more room to work with from where you’re standing. I’d suggest it to Sony FE users who enjoy taking time over composition, especially for architecture and landscapes. With manual focus, take a moment to set focus before you shoot rather than expecting the lens to do it for you. The f/5 maximum aperture is best treated as a daylight-friendly limit: for a low-light scene, you may need to raise ISO or accept a slower shutter speed. On a Sony APS-C body, the view is narrower, equivalent to 22.5mm.

Technical Specifications

Product kind: Interchangeable lens

Focal length: 15mm

Maximum aperture: f/5

Lens type: Ultra Wide Prime

Mount: Sony FE

Sensor format: Full Frame

Focus: Manual Focus

Angle of view: 111°

Finish: Silver

Aperture operation: Auto Aperture
