The Tamron Lens Hood 100-400 (A035) is the dedicated hood for Tamron’s 100-400mm lens, putting a barrier in the path of unwanted light before it reaches the lens. That matters for outdoor scenes in strong daylight, backlit subjects and compositions where a bright light sits near the edge of the frame: the hood helps limit lens flare and colour casts. It also adds a physical layer of protection in front of the lens, useful when carrying the lens between locations or working in a busy environment where knocks are possible. This is a lens-specific accessory rather than a general-purpose hood, so its intended pairing is clear. For owners of the matching Tamron zoom, it addresses two everyday concerns at the front of the lens: stray light and accidental impact.

Light and Front Protection

Made for the Tamron 100-400mm lens: This is the matching hood for that lens, so you can choose the accessory by the lens name rather than relying on a generic fit.

Shields against stray light: The hood screens the lens from unwanted incoming light. That’s useful when shooting outdoors or with a bright source close to your composition.

Helps limit lens flare: By blocking stray light, the hood reduces a common source of flare that can distract from the subject, particularly in bright or backlit scenes.

Helps reduce colour casts: Unwanted light can affect the appearance of colour in an image. The hood is intended to limit that effect as well as flare.

Added protection for the front element: The hood provides a buffer in front of the lens, helping guard against damage from bumps or knocks.

Specialist Note

At the front of the lens, this hood creates a barrier between the glass and light arriving from the sides; that’s a simple detail with a useful effect on bright days. I’d keep it fitted for outdoor scenes where sunlight comes from off-frame, or for backlit portraits where flare can take attention away from a face. Its specific pairing with Tamron’s 100-400mm lens is the key point: this isn’t a universal accessory to match by appearance. It also offers some extra protection against knocks, though it doesn’t replace careful handling. For owners of that lens, it’s a focused add-on for controlling stray light and protecting the front.

What's Included

Tamron Lens Hood 100-400 (A035)

Technical Specifications

Brand: Tamron

Model: A035

Type: Lens hood

Compatibility: Tamron 100-400mm lens

Light control: Screens unwanted incoming light

Effects addressed: Lens flare and colour casts

Protection: Helps protect the front element from knocks
