It’s suited to photographers who want a gentler, more spread-out light than a bare flash gives, without making a large softbox the centre of their setup. Use it for portraits when you want softer shadows on a face, or for small product photographs where direct flash can look harsh. Position the light so it falls across your subject rather than hitting it straight on; moving the modifier closer can make the light softer and more enveloping. The umbrella format gives you a straightforward way to work with reflected flash light, making it a practical option for a home portrait corner or a compact tabletop arrangement. Its appeal is simple: a dedicated flash modifier for shaping light, without extra controls or effects to learn.

Specialist Note

At 82 cm, the U-32 gives you a light surface that’s manageable in a smaller portrait or product setup. I’d use it close to a seated subject for softer facial shadows, or position it just off to one side of a small object to bring out shape without a hard, direct flash look. Its white colour keeps the appearance neutral in your setup. This is a sensible scale for one person or tabletop work; for a full-length group portrait, the light may not cover everyone evenly. Pair it with a flash setup and adjust the angle until the reflected light reaches the part of the subject you want to emphasise.

Technical Specifications

Type: Softbox umbrella reflector

Size: 82 cm

Colour: White
