It’s intended for video setups where a V-lock battery needs to sit on the rig rather than be held separately. A Mini Crab clamp provides the mounting point on a tube, with a specified diameter range of 1.9 to 2.2 cm. That makes the plate relevant to a professional video camera build with a tube in that size range, as well as other equipment using a matching tube. The D-Tap connection is part of the plate, so this is more than a battery holder alone. For a compact camera rig, it brings the V-lock attachment and D-Tap connection together in one accessory; on a setup with a suitable tube, the Mini Crab is the stated way to mount it. The useful detail here is the defined clamp range: it gives you a precise fit to compare with your rig, rather than a general promise of compatibility. The product information doesn’t describe the D-Tap’s electrical role, so the dependable facts are its presence and the plate’s mounting details.

Mounting and connection details

V-lock battery plate: The plate provides a mounting point for a V-lock battery on equipment such as a professional video camera. That makes the connection part of this mounting accessory, a useful detail when choosing between a plate with a D-Tap connection and a battery plate without one.

Mini Crab mounting: The Mini Crab attachment is the specified way to mount the plate to a tube.
