The Schneider CF Diopter Split +1 is a split diopter filter for shots where you want to bring those two distances together. Its +1 diopter strength adds close-focus assistance, while the split design lets the two sides of the composition sit at different focus distances. It suits filmmakers and camera operators building a carefully arranged frame around foreground and background detail. The 4.5-inch drop format is a key part of choosing it: this isn’t a generic round filter you screw onto a lens. It’s best used when the composition can make the split useful, rather than when you need an evenly sharp image across the whole frame.

Specialist Note

Can this keep a close detail and a distant face sharp together? Yes—that’s the reason to choose a split diopter like this one. The +1 strength gives you close-focus assistance, so you can place a nearby object in the shot while holding attention on a subject farther away. Try putting the close detail to one side and the distant subject to the other, then compose around the division between them. The 4.5-inch drop is the format to match to your setup; it isn’t a screw-on filter. I’d recommend it to filmmakers planning a deliberate two-plane composition. Do allow for the split line: it can be visible if the framing doesn’t work with it.

Technical Specifications

Product type: Split diopter

Diopter strength: +1

Format: 4.5-inch drop

Brand: Schneider
