LaCie Rugged Mini USB 3.0 1TB 7200RPM S.R.p 2.5 inch 301558

LaCie Rugged Mini USB 3.0 1TB 7200RPM S.R.p 2.5 inch 301558 | A straightforward drive for everyday file storage

After a shoot, it’s handy to have one place to put a day’s photos before sorting through them. The LaCie Rugged Mini is an external hard drive with 1TB of storage, a USB 3.0 connection and a 7200RPM drive speed, in a 2.5-inch format. That makes it a practical option if you want a dedicated drive for keeping photo folders, video files or other documents together, rather than leaving everything on your computer. Its appeal is straightforward: a named capacity, a familiar USB connection and a compact drive format. The product name includes “Rugged Mini”, but the details supplied here don’t describe specific protection features, so I wouldn’t buy it on an assumption about what it can withstand. For ordinary file storage and organisation, the information we do have gives you a clear starting point.

Where it fits

This drive makes sense for someone building a simple storage routine: copy files onto an external drive, keep folders in order, and make room on a computer when needed. The 1TB capacity gives you a concrete figure to compare with your current storage needs; how many images or videos that holds depends on the size of the files you create. USB 3.0 is the connection specified in the name, but no transfer-rate figure is provided, so there’s no reason to promise a particular copy time. Likewise, 7200RPM describes the drive’s rotational speed, not a guaranteed real-world transfer speed. If you want a 2.5-inch external HDD from LaCie and know that 1TB is the capacity you need, this model keeps the choice uncomplicated. It’s a sensible place to start when the goal is simply to give your files a separate home.
