LaCie Rugged USB-C 1 TB HDD 130MB/s STFR1000800

LaCie Rugged USB-C 1 TB HDD 130MB/s STFR1000800 | Keep a terabyte of files in one place

When photo folders start spreading across devices, finding the right copy can become a chore. The LaCie Rugged USB-C is an external hard drive for keeping files together in one place, with 1 TB of storage and a listed speed of 130MB/s. It suits photographers who want a dedicated place for image folders, as well as anyone who needs external storage for everyday files. The USB-C connection is part of the product name; check that it suits the ports and setup you plan to use. Its Rugged name gives the model a distinctive identity, but it’s best to choose a drive for the capacity and connection you need rather than assume a particular level of protection. One honest point: a drive can hold your files, but it won’t organize them for you. A clear folder routine still helps.

Making room for a working library

A dedicated external drive can give a busy computer some breathing room and help keep related folders together. For a photography workflow, that might mean grouping images by project, date or client, then keeping the folder names consistent. The drive itself doesn’t decide how you sort things, so a simple system you’ll actually maintain is more useful than an elaborate one you abandon.

Think about what you plan to store before deciding how to divide the available space. Image folders can vary considerably in size, and other files may share the drive. If you’re moving files between locations, keeping names and folder structure intact makes it easier to pick up where you left off. This is a straightforward storage option when you want a physical drive for your files, rather than leaving everything on your computer. Its orange colour also makes the model easy to identify among other gear.
