SmallRig 6405 Rotating Side Handle w/ Hawklock H21 Quick Release Nato Clamp

SmallRig 6405 Rotating Side Handle w/ Hawklock H21 Quick Release Nato Clamp | A side grip with a rotating design

A more comfortable way to hold a camera rig from the side is the aim of the SmallRig 6405 Rotating Side Handle. It combines a rotating handle with a HawkLock H21 quick-release NATO clamp, making it a specific option for a setup built around that clamp connection. The rotating design gives you a way to change the handle’s position; the name doesn’t specify a range of movement, so I wouldn’t assume a particular angle or adjustment. What is clear is the intended role: add a side grip to a rig, rather than another control or camera feature. That can be useful when you want your hand on the side of the setup during handheld work. Before choosing it, match the HawkLock H21 NATO clamp to the mounting arrangement you plan to use. The mount name is the practical detail to focus on.

Designed around a particular connection

Side handles are a hands-on accessory: their value depends on where your grip sits and how that position feels with your own rig. This model pairs that handle format with a named quick-release clamp, so it suits a buyer who already has a reason to look for a HawkLock H21 NATO connection. The rotating feature is another part of the design, but the product name alone doesn’t tell us how it’s adjusted or secured. I’d keep the decision simple: consider it when you want a rotating side handle and its clamp type matches your setup. If you’re comparing several handles, give the connection type priority over general claims about comfort. It’s a small detail on the product title, but an important one when choosing a grip accessory.

SmallRig’s 6405 is therefore best understood by its two defining details: it’s a side handle that rotates, and it uses a HawkLock H21 quick-release NATO clamp. Those details make the product easier to identify for a rig build or an accessory search. They also help set expectations: this is a grip accessory, not a camera body or a complete rig. If that combination is what you need, the product name gives you the essentials without dressing them up.
