JJC ET-78B Canon Lens Hood White
JJC ET-78B Canon Lens Hood White | Helps shade the lens from stray light
Stray light coming from outside the frame can cause flare and make a photograph look less clear than you intended. A lens hood helps shade the front of the lens, reducing the light that reaches it from the sides. The JJC ET-78B is a white Canon lens hood for photographers who want that practical help and prefer a hood in a matching colour. It’s most useful when a bright light source sits just outside your composition, such as a low sun or a bright window. A hood can also give the front of a lens some cover from accidental bumps, though it isn’t a substitute for careful handling. Lens hoods are specific to lens designs, so the ET-78B designation matters more than the Canon name alone when you’re choosing one. If that’s the hood designation your lens calls for, this is a straightforward way to add shading without changing how you shoot.
Specialist Note
At 10 a.m. on a bright street, I’d keep a hood on the lens when the sun is just outside the frame; that’s exactly the kind of stray light a hood can help cut down. This one is marked ET-78B, so I’d use that full designation when matching it to the hood specified for a lens, rather than relying on “Canon” alone. The white finish is a considered detail if you want the hood to suit a white lens visually. It’s for someone who values a tidy-looking setup as well as shade from side light. One limit: a hood can’t remove flare caused by light shining directly into the lens.
