Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T80
Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T80 | Helps tame wind noise in recordings
Wind can make outdoor audio harder to listen to; the Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T80 is made to help reduce that problem at the microphone. It’s a deadcat-style windshield, intended to sit over a microphone while you record. That makes it relevant for anyone capturing speech or ambient sound outdoors, where moving air can interfere with the sound you want to keep. Think interviews, spoken pieces or location audio: the aim is to make wind less prominent in the recording, so voices and other sounds are easier to hear. This accessory has a focused role rather than adding recording features or changing how you operate your microphone. Choose it when wind is the issue you’re trying to manage, and treat it as part of your recording setup, not a substitute for choosing a sheltered position when conditions allow.
Specialist Note
The Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T80 is for reducing wind interference around a microphone. I’d consider it for outdoor dialogue or ambient recordings when you want less wind rumble competing with the sound you’re there to capture. Use it on the microphone while recording, and still look for a spot with some shelter if the wind is strong; a windshield can help, but it doesn’t make weather disappear. The name tells you its role, but not which microphones it fits, so I wouldn’t want to guess at compatibility. If your microphone is a match, this is a straightforward accessory with one clear purpose.
