DZOFILM Pavo 2X Anamorphic Prime 135mm T2.5 – Neutral Coating | Long-reach anamorphic framing for film

Without an anamorphic lens, filmmakers often create a widescreen frame by cropping or reframing a spherical image. This prime offers a different route: an anamorphic 135mm lens for video and filmmaking, built around a 2X design. Its T2.5 maximum aperture gives you room to work when light levels are modest, while the long focal length is suited to carefully composed close-ups and distant details rather than broad views in a small room. It has a Canon EF mount, so it belongs in a Canon EF-based video setup. This is an interchangeable lens with manual focus, making it a considered choice for crews who want direct control over focus and are prepared to work deliberately. The neutral-coating version is for filmmakers choosing this specific Pavo configuration for a production.

Specialist Note

The 135mm focal length can be a squeeze in a small interior; this lens makes more sense when you can give the camera some distance from the subject. I’d consider it for a tightly framed dialogue shot or a composed detail, with the operator making measured manual focus adjustments as the subject moves. On a Canon APS-C EF-S body, the framing is equivalent to about 216mm on full frame, so plan for a very tight view. Its 2X anamorphic design also means your post-production workflow needs to de-squeeze the image. It suits a controlled film set better than fast, run-and-gun work.
