SmallRig 4797 L Shape Mount Plate w/ Silicone Handle For Sony Alpha 7C II / 7CR
SmallRig 4797 L Shape Mount Plate w/ Silicone Handle For Sony Alpha 7C II / 7CR | A more comfortable hold for tripod setups
The SmallRig 4797 combines an L shape mount plate with a silicone handle, giving Sony Alpha 7C II and 7CR owners one accessory for tripod use and a more comfortable place to hold the camera. It suits photographers who move between handheld shooting and a tripod-based setup, and want the support accessory to serve a practical purpose in both situations. The silicone handle is the part you’ll notice during handheld use; the L-shaped plate makes this a tripod accessory rather than a grip on its own. Its appeal is straightforward: it brings camera support and a more tactile hold together, without changing what the camera does. If your main concern is image-making features, this isn’t where you’ll find them. It’s a focused piece of equipment for people who want a plate and handle in one accessory, made for the two Sony camera models named here.
What this accessory brings
- An L shape mount plate for tripod-accessory use.
- A silicone handle to give your hand a more comfortable contact point.
For a considered camera setup
This accessory is most relevant when you want a dedicated support piece that also contributes to how you hold the camera. The design keeps its purpose clear: it’s about handling and tripod use, not adding camera controls or affecting image settings. That makes it a sensible option for owners of the compatible Sony bodies who prefer a purpose-made accessory over a plate alone.
Specialist Note
A common first-time mistake with a camera plate is treating it as something that matters only once the camera reaches a tripod. Here, the silicone handle gives you a more comfortable place to hold the camera during handheld shooting, so the accessory has a role before you set up your support. I’d consider it for a Sony Alpha 7C II or 7CR used between handheld framing and tripod work: keep the plate on the camera as part of that setup, rather than thinking of it as a separate tripod-only item. The L shape is useful to know when choosing it, but this is still a support and handling accessory, not a way to change camera operation.
