It’s an interchangeable macro lens for Leica L-mount cameras, with a 5–10X Ultra Macro designation for highly magnified subjects. The 17.5mm focal length and f/1.7 maximum aperture give it a distinctive combination for close work, while manual focus puts the point of sharpness under your control. That makes it a considered option for photographers who want to explore small details in product photography or nature, and who are comfortable focusing carefully rather than relying on autofocus. It’s a specialist lens: its strongest use is extreme macro, not general-purpose everyday shooting. The APO name is part of the product designation; the practical appeal here is the unusual magnification range and direct manual focus.

Specialist Note

The 17.5mm focal length is a detail to keep in mind at close range: small changes in your position can shift the framing noticeably. For a product surface or a tiny plant feature, work in small steps and turn the manual focus slowly to place sharpness where you want it. The 5–10× Ultra Macro range is for subjects where fine detail is the point, rather than a wider scene. Its f/1.7 maximum aperture gives you the option of a wide setting when light is limited, though at high magnification it won’t keep every part of a subject in focus. I’d recommend it to patient Leica L-mount users who enjoy deliberate product or nature close-ups.

Technical Specifications

Product type: Interchangeable lens

Focal length: 17.5mm

Maximum aperture: f/1.7

Lens type: Macro

Mount: Leica L

Focus: Manual Focus

Suitable for: Macro, Product, Nature

https://www.htf-store.com/fr/products/laowa-aksen-17-5mm-f-1-7-5-10x-ultra-macro-apo-l-mount-veaksen17517l
