Tokina Cinema 11-20mm T2.9 E
Tokina Cinema 11-20mm T2.9 E | Wide-angle range for filmmaking
For video scenes that need both an expansive view and the option to tighten the frame, the Tokina Cinema 11-20mm T2.9 E gives filmmakers a wide-angle zoom spanning 11-20mm. It’s an interchangeable cinema lens for video and filmmaking, with manual focus and a maximum T2.9 aperture. That combination is useful when you're shaping a shot deliberately: begin with more of a room or setting in view, then adjust the focal length to bring the composition closer without changing lenses. The T2.9 rating gives you an exposure reference when setting a shot, while manual focus puts focus adjustment in your hands rather than leaving it to automation. It suits filmmakers who want to control framing and focus themselves, especially for wide establishing views, interiors and other moving-image work where a change in framing is part of the plan. Its role is specific: a wide zoom for filmmaking, rather than an all-purpose lens.
Specialist Note
Framing a wide scene and then needing a tighter composition can mean interrupting your setup; this zoom gives you room to make that adjustment with the lens. I’d point it toward filmmakers who want hands-on control: manual focus means setting focus yourself, so plan that adjustment rather than expecting autofocus to do it. T2.9 is helpful when you need a brighter exposure setting than a smaller aperture would allow, though it doesn’t replace managing your lighting. For an establishing view, start at 11mm; move toward 20mm when you want less of the surroundings in frame. It’s a focused tool for video work, and its wide-angle range won’t replace a longer zoom.
