Godox AK-R15 Grid

Godox AK-R15 Grid | Narrower flash light, with controlled contrast

The Godox AK-R15 Grid narrows the spread of light from a compatible flash head and reduces the contrast between highlights and shadows. It’s an accessory for Godox V1 flash heads and the H200R Ring Flash Head for AD200, useful when broad flash coverage would reach more of the scene than you intend. For portraits, the narrower beam can keep attention on the subject rather than lighting a wider area. On a small set, it can direct flash towards a selected part of the scene, while its contrast-reducing effect is relevant when you want less separation between bright and shaded areas. Those two effects make this a focused light-control accessory, rather than a diffuser intended simply to spread light broadly. Compatibility is specific, so the AK-R15 is best considered by owners of the listed Godox heads. Its purpose is straightforward: shape the flash’s coverage and moderate contrast.

Why it is useful

• Narrower light spread: The grid constrains the flash head’s coverage compared with its broader spread. That’s useful when you want to direct illumination towards a subject or part of a scene instead of lighting a wider area.
• Reduced highlight-to-shadow contrast: Godox describes the AK-R15 as reducing the difference between bright highlights and dark shadows. This matters when a strongly contrasting flash result isn’t the look you’re after.
• For Godox V1 flash heads: The AK-R15 is compatible with Godox Speedlite V1 studio flash heads. Owners of those heads can add the grid for more limited flash coverage.
• For the H200R Ring Flash Head: It also fits the H200R Ring Flash Head for the AD200. That gives users of this specific ring flash head the same beam-narrowing accessory.
• Useful for selective lighting: Since the grid narrows where the flash’s light spreads, it’s suited to situations where you want to concentrate light on a portrait subject or a chosen area of a set. Its contrast effect is a separate benefit.
• Specific compatibility: This isn’t a universal flash modifier: the supplied compatibility information names the V1 flash heads and H200R Ring Flash Head for AD200. Match the accessory to one of those heads before adding it to your kit.
