PDMovie Lens Gear Ring - Support 42mm - 82mm Dia
PDMovie Lens Gear Ring - Support 42mm - 82mm Dia | Add geared focus control to your lens
Without a geared ring, a focus pull is often made by turning the lens barrel directly; this PDMovie ring gives a geared drive a point of contact on the lens. It’s intended for video makers and small crews who want to operate focus through a geared control rather than reach over the camera for every adjustment. The stated support range is 42mm to 82mm in diameter, so the ring is suited to lenses with barrel sizes across that span. Position it around the lens at the focus control, then engage your geared drive to make deliberate turns while recording a dialogue scene, product shot or other take where focus needs to move cleanly. It’s a straightforward accessory, not a focus motor or a way to change what the lens can do. Its purpose is to add a geared interface to the lens you already use.
Specialist Note
“Will this PDMovie ring fit a lens with a 42mm or 82mm barrel?” Its stated support range runs from 42mm to 82mm, so those are the lower and upper ends to check against the barrel where you plan to fit it. I’d use it when you want to pull focus with a geared drive instead of reaching around the camera: place it at the lens’s focus control and turn the drive steadily between your chosen focus points. That’s handy for a controlled rack focus in a short video or a product shot. At 82mm, you’re at the stated limit; the ring won’t solve a diameter mismatch beyond its range, and it doesn’t alter the lens’s own focus throw.
