Fujifilm XF16mm f/2.8 R WR Silver | A broad view for landscapes and architecture

Fujifilm XF16mm f/2.8 R WR Silver is a 16mm ultra-wide prime for Fujifilm X-mount cameras. With an 83° angle of view, it takes in broad scenes without asking you to step far back, which is handy when a landscape or building fills the frame. It suits photographers who want a fixed wide view for landscapes, architecture or night-sky images, rather than a zoom for changing composition from one spot. The silver finish gives it a distinctive look alongside a compatible Fujifilm setup. Its perspective is useful for placing foreground detail against a wide background, or showing the scale of a room or street façade. For architecture, careful framing matters: keep vertical lines deliberate and leave room around details near the edges. Autofocus handles focusing automatically, so you can concentrate on positioning the camera and composing the scene.

Specialist Note

Architecture and night-sky photographers who want a fixed, broad view will get the most from this lens. I’d use f/2.8 as a starting point for a star field: the maximum aperture gives you room to gather light before adjusting exposure to the conditions. On Fujifilm X APS-C bodies, the framing is about 24mm in full-frame terms, giving you context for a façade or foreground-led landscape. Keep close subjects away from the corners; a wide perspective can stretch them. It’s less suited to anyone who needs to change focal length without moving, so pair it with a standard zoom if you need that flexibility.
