This Fujifilm X-mount lens gives you a 50-140mm range at a constant f/2.8, and the included XF1.4X TC WR extends that reach when your subject is farther away. It’s a strong fit for Fujifilm X photographers who shoot portraits, travel or events and want to frame people and details without changing position. At 50-140mm, its angle of view is about 32°-12°, so you can move from a more open view to a tight composition with a zoom. Autofocus helps you keep pace with changing moments, while optical stabilisation is useful when you’re shooting handheld. The lens’s fast maximum aperture also gives you room to work in dimmer settings and keep backgrounds soft.

Specialist Note

Do I need the XF1.4X TC WR with the XF50-140mm? Yes, if you sometimes need more reach without changing lenses; it takes the zoom to 70-196mm. On a Fujifilm X APS-C body, the lens’s 50-140mm framing is equivalent to about 75-210mm on full frame, which is a handy range for flattering portraits and event moments from a little distance. For moving people, try 1/500 sec and let ISO rise as needed; f/2.8 gives you more light to work with. I’d suggest this set to someone who values that flexibility. One trade-off: adding the converter costs some light, so it’s less helpful in dim rooms than using the lens on its own.
