H&Y HD EVO-Series Video ND Kit IRND8/16/32 72mm | More exposure control for video in bright light

Keeping video exposure under control in bright light lets you hold on to a chosen shutter speed or aperture, rather than changing your settings simply because the scene is too bright. The H&Y HD EVO-Series Video ND Kit IRND8/16/32 72mm is a 72mm video neutral-density filter kit, with three listed strengths: IRND8, IRND16 and IRND32. It suits filmmakers who want more room to set motion and depth of field deliberately, from outdoor interviews to moving shots in daylight. Choose a strength to reduce incoming light, then set exposure around the look you want. The kit is especially useful when you want to maintain your planned video settings as the light changes. Its 72mm size is intended for a lens with a matching filter fit, so it’s worth factoring that into your setup.

Specialist Note

Keeping a chosen video shutter setting in bright daylight is where this kit earns its place. The 72mm size gives a direct fit when your lens takes that filter size, and the IRND8, IRND16 and IRND32 options let you reduce light in steps instead of changing your intended aperture as conditions shift. For an outdoor interview, set your shutter and aperture for the motion and background blur you want, then select the ND strength that brings exposure under control. The same approach helps when filming a subject moving between open shade and sun. I’d keep in mind that 72mm is the filter size, so it won’t directly suit a lens with a different filter size.
