The Ilford Multigrade Set 12 Filters 15.2 X 15.2cm is a set of 12 filters for photographers working on Multigrade prints. It suits anyone who wants to make deliberate adjustments while printing, from refining one image to keeping a series of prints visually consistent. Its value is in making comparison part of the process: print, change the filter choice, then judge the result under the same viewing conditions. That gives you a more reliable way to decide whether the image needs gentler tonal separation or stronger contrast. The differences are easier to assess when you compare prints side by side, rather than relying on memory between attempts. This is a focused darkroom tool, best suited to a considered printing workflow rather than general-purpose photography.

Specialist Note

The square 15.2 × 15.2 cm format gives you a defined area to position during printing, making it easier to work methodically through your choices. I’d use the 12 filters for two jobs: comparing how one negative prints at different contrast settings, and settling on a consistent look across several prints. Change one filter choice at a time, then assess the prints under the same light; that makes the differences easier to judge. It suits a darkroom printer who likes to make decisions during the printing process. One point to keep in mind: this is a dedicated Multigrade filter set, not a general-purpose filter kit.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Ilford

Product: Multigrade filter set

Quantity: 12 filters

Dimensions: 15.2 × 15.2 cm

Colour: Black
