The Kondor Blue KB_KOM_BOT_BK is a base plate named for the RED Komodo, giving RED Komodo owners a dedicated starting point for assembling their camera setup. It’s aimed at filmmakers who want a product specifically identified as a RED Komodo base plate, rather than a general-purpose camera accessory. That makes its purpose refreshingly clear: this is a component for the foundation of a RED Komodo build, not a filter or an image-making accessory. If you’re planning a rig around that camera, it’s the kind of part to consider at the point where you’re choosing the core pieces of the setup. The product name also identifies it as Raven Black, a restrained finish that suits a camera build where you want the components to look considered without drawing attention away from the camera.

Specialist Note

There’s no detail here about the plate’s construction or adjustment, so I wouldn’t choose it on assumptions about those things. The reason to consider this one is more specific: it’s identified as a RED Komodo base plate, which makes sense if you’re putting together a setup around that camera and want the base component to be camera-specific. Raven Black is a practical-looking finish for a rig you’d rather keep visually understated; it can also help the plate sit comfortably alongside other black components. I’d look at it when planning the foundation of a RED Komodo build, and keep the rest of the setup decisions tied to the accessories you intend to use.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Kondor Blue

Product type: RED Komodo base plate

Finish: Raven Black

Model code: KB_KOM_BOT_BK
