That’s the practical reason to choose an L plate over relying on a simple base plate when your composition changes orientation. The Leofoto L Plate is made for FX2 owners who use a tripod and want to move between those two frame shapes without changing the subject’s composition just to suit the camera’s position. It’s especially relevant for portrait-oriented stills, vertical video, or a fixed viewpoint where repositioning the tripod would interrupt your setup. This is a purpose-built camera support, rather than an image-making accessory: it won’t change the FX2’s picture or controls. Its appeal is straightforward—keep the camera supported while adjusting how you frame.

Specialist Note

A portrait frame is needed at the tripod, but the Sony FX2 is still set up for a landscape view. That’s where this Leofoto L Plate earns its place: its L-shaped form gives you a way to reorient the camera while keeping it supported on the tripod. I’d suggest it to an FX2 owner who regularly alternates between horizontal compositions and vertical clips, especially in a fixed position such as an interview setup. Set the framing in landscape, then move to portrait when the shot calls for it, rather than rebuilding the camera position from scratch. It’s a focused piece of support gear; its purpose is the FX2, not a general-purpose camera plate.

Technical Specifications

Product: Leofoto L Plate

Camera: Sony FX2
