PolarPro made this filter for use with a Hero5 Super Suit, giving divers and underwater video makers a specific filter option for that setup. It’s most relevant when you’re filming underwater scenes where the water’s green tint is affecting the colour in the image. The filter is named for its magenta effect; the supplier lists the product’s colour as black, which describes its appearance rather than the colour correction it’s designed to provide. If you’re planning footage around natural underwater colour, this is a focused accessory rather than a general-purpose filter. It won’t change the scene or the available light, so it’s best thought of as one part of your filming setup, chosen for the colour conditions you expect to encounter.

Specialist Note

Divers filming reefs, rocks or other underwater scenery are the people I’d point towards this filter. Its magenta designation is the useful clue: it’s intended to address green-looking underwater footage, so try it for a scene where that cast is distracting from the colours you want to show. The named fit is the Hero5 Super Suit, which makes this a specific match for that housing setup, not a filter I’d suggest buying for a different camera arrangement. I’d also keep expectations measured: a colour filter can help with the look of the footage, but it can’t restore detail or colour that wasn’t captured. For underwater filming with the named setup, it’s a purpose-led option.

Technical Specifications

Product: PolarPro Magenta Filter for Hero5 Super Suit

Filter type: Magenta

Colour: Black
