The SMDV Honeycomb Grid HC 300 is listed as a grid in the softbox and snoot accessories category. Its name identifies the HC 300 model; it doesn’t give a measurement to rely on, so I wouldn’t read “300” as a size without further information.

This type of accessory suits photographers who want to make the lit area feel more deliberate, rather than letting light spread broadly across a scene. That can be useful for separating a subject from a background or keeping illumination off parts of a set. The effect depends on where the light is aimed and how the scene is arranged. If you’re choosing a grid for a particular modifier, the honest point is that the product title alone doesn’t identify which modifier it fits.

Working with a grid

A honeycomb grid is intended to restrict the spread of light compared with using the light source without a grid. In practice, that gives you more control over where the light falls; it doesn’t replace careful positioning or change the direction the light is aimed. The SMDV Honeycomb Grid HC 300 is the specific model named here, so use that full name when matching it to your lighting gear. The category places it among softbox, grid and snoot accessories, but doesn’t establish a particular softbox model or setup. That distinction matters: a grid can be a useful part of a controlled-lighting approach, yet compatibility is a separate question from its general purpose. For a portrait, product scene or other setup where spill matters, think about the area you want illuminated first, then choose the grid and position the light accordingly.

Technical Specifications

Product name: SMDV Honeycomb Grid HC 300

Category: Accessories > Softbox > Grid > Snoot

Accessory type: Honeycomb grid
