It’s for cinematographers, camera assistants and image-makers who want to make a deliberate colour adjustment as part of their production workflow. The CC20Y marking identifies a specific yellow correction, useful when you want to steer colour balance rather than rely on a broad warming effect in post. Choose it when that particular correction and the 4x5.650 format fit the look you’re planning. This is a focused tool, not a general-purpose filter for every lighting situation. It makes most sense in a kit where colour decisions are being managed with care, and where you want a defined filtration option available while shaping the image. If you’re building a set of filters for controlled colour work, this Tiffen gives you a clearly identified correction to plan around.

Specialist Note

With the 4x5.650 format, the key is having the right filter size ready before the camera rolls; it’s a straightforward choice when that format is already part of your setup. CC20Y is the detail to pay attention to: it identifies yellow colour compensation, so I’d use it when you want a controlled shift in colour balance, then assess the result against the scene’s intended neutral point. It suits crews and operators making deliberate in-camera colour choices. One thing to keep in mind: it’s a specialist correction, so it won’t replace a neutral filter or resolve every mixed-light situation on its own.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Tiffen

Format: 4x5.650

Filter designation: CC20Y

Product type: Filter
