The B&W PP.221 is a hard case for transporting and storing equipment that needs more protection than a soft bag provides. Its pre-cut foam gives the interior a shaped layout for your kit, while the orange finish makes the case easy to pick out among darker luggage. It’s suited to photographers and other equipment owners who regularly move or store gear in less-than-gentle conditions, whether between workspaces or on the way to a location. This case is best used as a protective home for equipment that fits its foam layout; it’s not simply an empty box for loosely packed items. The practical appeal is straightforward: a hard outer case and shaped foam help keep vulnerable gear better protected from everyday knocks, dust and rain.

Specialist Note

For a studio-to-location run with the Type 5000, I’d use this as the home for gear that needs a defined place between jobs. The pre-cut foam gives each item a shaped resting spot, so I’d arrange the kit to match those existing cut-outs rather than expect a blank, freely configurable interior. Its hard-case construction is what I’d value when the route includes a busy vehicle or a dusty storeroom: it’s made for knocks and exposure, not just carrying. The orange finish also helps pick it out among darker cases. It suits someone moving a regular kit; the honest limit is that the foam layout needs to suit what you’re packing.

Technical Specifications

Product kind: Hard case

Case type: 5000

Foam: Pre-cut

Colour: Orange

Category: Bags > Hard Case
