The Godox SS11G is a softbox grid for the SS11, intended for photographers who want to keep the light from that softbox more contained. It’s most relevant when you’re shaping a scene and want to limit spill onto nearby areas; the exact result depends on the setup and how you place the light. If you use an SS11 and have a specific lighting job in mind, this is the accessory named for that softbox. The product name is refreshingly direct: it identifies the grid and the softbox it’s for. That makes it easier to judge whether it belongs in your kit without relying on broad claims about what it can do. Think of it as a way to refine the SS11’s use, rather than as a replacement for the softbox itself.

Using a grid with the SS11

A grid is generally chosen to restrict the spread of light, rather than let it travel as freely as it would without one. That can help when you want the softbox to illuminate a more deliberate part of a scene and reduce light falling elsewhere. The SS11G’s stated purpose is specific: it’s for the SS11. That makes it a straightforward option to consider if you already work with that softbox and want to explore tighter light control. It’s also worth keeping expectations practical: the product name identifies its type and intended softbox, but doesn’t tell you how much the light spread changes in a particular room or setup. Your placement and the surrounding scene still matter. For a planned portrait, product shot or other controlled lighting setup, decide first where you want the light to fall, then consider whether a grid is the right way to narrow its spread.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Godox

Model: SS11G

Type: Softbox grid for SS11
