ilford-hi-gloss-fb-al-warmtone-a3-50v
Ilford Hi Gloss FB Al Warmtone A3+ 50V

Ilford Hi Gloss FB Al Warmtone A3+ 50V | A warmtone look in a glossy finish

The defining choice here is the Hi Gloss finish: it puts a glossy surface at the centre of the print, rather than leaving the finish open-ended. Ilford’s Hi Gloss FB Al Warmtone A3+ 50V is photo paper for people choosing a particular presentation for their prints, with “Warmtone” and “Hi Gloss” both part of the product name. Its A3+ format gives you a larger sheet to work with than a smaller print size, while FB Al and 50V identify the specific version. Those details make this a focused option for a print brief that calls for a glossy finish, a warmtone designation and A3+ paper. I’d start with those choices when deciding if it suits your project; the name is quite specific, and that’s more useful than treating it as a general-purpose paper.

Choosing it for your print

If you already know you want A3+ prints, the format is a clear part of the decision. The other two cues to weigh are the named finish and tone: Hi Gloss and Warmtone. They describe the direction this paper is intended to fit, rather than leaving you to choose a surface or tone from a broad, unspecified range. FB Al is also part of the full product designation, so it’s worth keeping the complete name together when comparing paper options or noting which version you want to use again. The title doesn’t need dressing up: this is the Ilford paper to consider when those named choices match the print you have in mind. A straightforward match between the size and the look you want is the sensible place to start.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Ilford

Finish designation: Hi Gloss

Paper designation: FB Al Warmtone

Format: A3+

Version: 50V
