The Miops Smart Smart Motion Pack S2 is a flash trigger and transmitter for firing off-camera flashes, aimed at photographers who want to shape light for these kinds of shots. Move the flash to one side of a portrait subject to create a more directional look, or position it off-axis for a product image with more considered highlights and shadows. The Pack S2’s role is to trigger the flash; it’s not a flash unit itself. That makes it worth considering if you already work with off-camera flash and want a transmitter in your setup. Its appeal is specific: it’s for firing flashes away from the camera, rather than for adding light on its own. Use it for portraits, product photography, or both.

Specialist Note

The word “transmitter” tells you where the Miops Smart Smart Motion Pack S2 fits: it sends the trigger for an off-camera flash, rather than supplying the light itself. For a portrait, put your flash to the side of your subject and use the transmitter to fire it; that gives you a way to work with more directional light than a flash kept by the camera. For a product shot, try placing the flash off-axis to shape the light across the item. I’d consider it for photographers who already use off-camera flashes and want to trigger them for portraits or product work. The honest limitation is simple: you’ll need a flash to use with it.

Technical Specifications

Product kind: Flash trigger / transmitter

Typical use: Firing off-camera flashes for portraits and product shots

Category: Flashes > Trigger > Transmitter
