The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue is a colour filter designed to turn light sources into blue streaks, adding a clear directional effect in camera. It suits filmmakers and photographers who want that look in-camera rather than adding it later in editing. Use it where visible lights are part of the composition: street lamps after dark, illuminated signs, or bright reflections can all give the effect something to work with. The blue colour makes the streak itself part of the image, so it’s a deliberate creative choice rather than a neutral correction filter. Its 6.6 × 6.6 format gives you a square filter shape, while the 2 mm designation identifies its thickness. This is a specialist effect filter, so it’s best chosen for scenes where you actively want blue streaks—not as an everyday filter to leave in place.

Specialist Note

“Will the True-Streak Blue give me a blue line from a light in the frame?” Yes—that’s the effect this filter is made for. I’d use it when a visible lamp or sign should read as a streak, rather than remain a small point of light; compose with that source clearly in view and let the blue effect become part of the shot. The 6.6 × 6.6 square format is worth planning around, since your filter setup needs to accommodate that shape. Its 2 mm thickness is another practical detail when choosing how it sits in your setup. It suits image-makers after a distinct, stylised look, but it won’t be subtle if you want clean, unaltered lights.

Technical Specifications

Product: Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue

Filter effect: Blue streak

Thickness: 2 mm

Format: 6.6 × 6.6

Category: Colour filter
