It’s suited to lighting setups where you want to soften the source but keep the beam more contained than a softbox alone would allow. That can help when you’re lighting a person or object near a background you’d rather keep darker, or when light spilling across the scene would be distracting. The eggcrate helps direct the light, while the softbox provides the softer quality associated with a larger, diffused source. This is a focused accessory for the named light, rather than a general-purpose modifier for any fixture. If your setup uses an SL-150P and you want a more controlled pool of soft light, the LA-BS150 is the relevant model to consider.

Keeping light where you want it

A grid is most useful when the shape and reach of the light matter as much as its softness. Aim the softbox toward your subject, then use the eggcrate to help keep light from spreading as freely into nearby areas. That can make it easier to keep contrast between the subject and the background, or to avoid adding unwanted light to an adjoining part of a scene. It’s a practical distinction: a softbox can soften the look of a light source, while the grid helps contain where that softened light goes. The LA-BS150 combines those two elements for use with the SL-150P. One honest point: a grid narrows the spread, so it’s intended for situations where you want more direction, not the broadest possible wash of light. Think about where you want the light to land before choosing this kind of control.

Technical Specifications

Brand and model: SWIT LA-BS150

Product type: Softbox

Grid: Eggcrate

For: SL-150P
