SmallRig MD3183B Multi Adjustable Chest Pad Mount Plate w/ Rod Clamp
SmallRig MD3183B Multi Adjustable Chest Pad Mount Plate w/ Rod Clamp | More support for moving gimbal shots
Without a chest pad mount, supporting a gimbal on the move means relying on your hands and arms alone. The SmallRig MD3183B adds a multi-adjustable chest pad mount plate and rod clamp to your setup, giving you another way to support a gimbal stabiliser while filming. It’s aimed at people making smooth walking shots, vlogs or other video while moving, especially when they want a support point against the chest as they work. The adjustable design lets you position the plate to suit your setup; the rod clamp is part of the same mounting arrangement. This is a support accessory, not a replacement for the gimbal’s stabilisation: its role is to help you manage the rig while filming. If your videos involve moving through a scene or speaking to camera on the go, it’s a purpose-built option to consider.
Specialist Note
The chest pad won’t do the gimbal’s stabilising for it, so I’d see this as support for handling the rig, not a shortcut to steadier footage. The reason I’d consider the MD3183B is its multi-adjustable chest pad plate: you can set the support position to suit how you hold your setup, rather than being stuck with one fixed position. The rod clamp gives that arrangement a specific mounting point, too. For walking shots or a vlog filmed while moving, I’d position the pad against your chest and keep your framing deliberate as you walk. It suits people who want that extra contact point while operating a gimbal.
