SmallRig 5906 L-Shaped Mount Plate w/ Wooden Handle For Nikon ZR
SmallRig 5906 L-Shaped Mount Plate w/ Wooden Handle For Nikon ZR | Extra support for handheld video
Handheld video can leave you wishing for a more supported way to hold the camera, especially during longer takes. The SmallRig 5906 is a shoulder rig for the Nikon ZR, combining an L-shaped mount plate with a wooden handle to give you a more defined way to support the camera while filming. It suits people who shoot video handheld and want a dedicated grip rather than holding the camera on its own. The wooden handle provides a distinct place for your hand, while the plate forms the mounting part of the rig. That makes this a focused option for interviews, short documentary sequences and other handheld work where you need to keep the camera supported as you frame. It’s made for handheld shooting, not for locking off a frame; for a static shot, a tripod remains the more appropriate support.
Specialist Note
For a Nikon ZR interview setup, I’d start with the 5906 when you plan to shoot handheld rather than leave the camera on a tripod. The wooden handle gives your hand a clear place to hold, which is useful when you’re keeping the camera supported through several takes. Its L-shaped mount plate is the part that brings the camera and handle together as a rig, so you have a more deliberate setup for gentle reframing. I’d consider it for seated interviews or a slow walk-and-talk, keeping your movements measured. It’s a focused handheld aid, though; it isn’t a replacement for a tripod when you need a fixed shot.
